There is no single answer to “Why aren’t my Google reviews showing?” A new review may be under examination, the profile may have changed or the content may have been removed under platform policies. First establish whether one review, the review count or the entire profile is missing.
This guide separately explains checks business owners can perform and official help channels. The aim is to assess the available information systematically rather than label every loss a “Google error” or “competitor attack”.
First Identify Your Situation
A new review is not showing yet
Google says reviews are checked for policy compliance and that this can sometimes take a few days. Note when the review was written and make sure you are examining the correct business location.
A previously visible review has disappeared
Record the date it disappeared and profile actions around that time. Previous visibility does not mean a review cannot later be reassessed. A screenshot should not be treated as definitive proof of the cause.
The profile itself is not visible
In this case, check the profile status before examining reviews. If there is a suspension or verification notice, follow the relevant steps in our Google Business Profile suspension guide .
Why Might Google Reviews Be Missing?
Google’s official missing-review guide lists review delays, profile merges, app issues, policy violations and some temporary content restrictions among possible situations. It also explains that support can be contacted for missing reviews on reinstated profiles. Do not read this list as the result of an individual investigation identifying the reason for a particular review.
Consider review dates, the relevant location and profile history together to understand what happened. Claims such as “Two reviews disappeared today, so this is definitely the reason” often lack verified evidence.
1. Check the Correct Business and Branch
Similar business names, relocated addresses and multiple branches can make checks difficult. Start by recording the exact business name, address and Maps link. Try to establish whether the review was left for another branch.
A hotel’s former name, a clinic’s doctor profile and institutional profile, or different branches of one brand may be confused. Do not plan a profile merge or new listing before identifying which record the reviews belong to.
- Name and full address of the profile checked.
- Relevant branch and Maps link.
- Approximate review date.
- Whether the problem affects one or several reviews.
2. Compare What the Reviewer Sees
The reviewer can check the reviews section in their own Google Maps account. It may show information about the review’s presence, location or subsequent edits. Users should do this in their own accounts; the business does not need to request a customer’s password.
Compare the user’s screen with the public business view on the same date and profile. Different sorting options, looking for an old review at the top of the list or checking the wrong branch can produce different results. Record the total review count separately from whether a specific review can be found.
3. Assess Review Content Against Policies
Google Maps contributions must reflect genuine experience. Purchased reviews, conflicts of interest, content directed by one person through multiple accounts and attempts to manipulate ratings can create problems.
It is wrong to rewrite a customer’s review and say “These words will definitely get it published.” Businesses should not selectively solicit positive reviews or dictate the rating and wording a person uses.
Prioritise independent expression of genuine experience instead of experimenting with words, accounts or devices to bypass filtering. Do not invent universal rules such as “This one word deletes every review.”
4. Check Profile Merge and Reinstatement History
If profiles were recently merged, record the date. If reviews are missing after reinstatement, collect earlier support correspondence under the same issue so the profile history can be presented clearly in the support request.
Note links to old and new profiles, the action date and which reviews appear missing. Recreating the business listing or using a different name is not automatically an appropriate solution to a review problem.
5. How to Prepare an Official Support Request
Before contacting support, clarify the issue enough to explain it in a few sentences. Instead of sending many unexplained screenshots, describe what each file demonstrates.
- Business name, location and profile link.
- Approximate date of the missing review and when the problem was noticed.
- Recent profile actions.
- Previous support case or reinstatement reply, if available.
- Explanatory screenshots without unnecessary personal information.
Submitting a request does not mean the review will return. Google determines the review outcome and action. Keep one internal tracking record to prevent different team members reporting the same problem with conflicting explanations.
Investigating a Missing Review Is Different from Reporting a Negative One
Investigating a missing review and reporting an existing review for a policy violation are different processes. A review may not be removed merely because it is negative or the business disagrees. Google’s reporting tool is intended for suspected policy violations.
If the review describes a genuine service problem, the business should also examine its own process. For replies, read our guide to responding professionally to negative reviews .
Which Review Management Practices Should Be Avoided?
Google does not allow incentives such as discounts, gifts or payments in exchange for writing or changing a review or removing a negative one. Requesting feedback is different from directing its rating or content.
- Do not buy review packages or guarantees of positive ratings.
- Do not give customers ready-made praise to copy.
- Do not try to silence people who give negative feedback.
- Do not ask business staff to manage a customer’s account.
- Do not pressure someone into repeated attempts to publish a review.
A consistent feedback approach should help the business understand genuine experiences. A system built only to raise ratings also hides opportunities to improve services.
Separate Notes for Hotels and Clinics
Hotels and tourism businesses
Similar property names, seasonal rebranding and branches mean you must establish which business a review concerns. Do not include reservation details or guest contact data in public replies. Our guide to Google reviews for hotels explores the role of feedback in brand communication.
Clinics and healthcare organisations
Do not disclose a person’s treatment, diagnosis or details of their contact with the institution in a review reply. Prefer a general support channel. In healthcare, sector-specific promotion and privacy requirements must be assessed alongside Google’s platform policies.
Patient reviews and digital trust and local SEO for clinics can be read together.
Make Review Tracking Consistent
A simple record is enough: check date, profile link, apparently missing review, relevant action and support status. Track changes in the overall rating separately from an individual review’s status. This record is intended to prevent information being lost, not to manufacture a definitive cause.
Do not reduce local visibility to review count alone. The website, consistency of business details and service descriptions should also be considered together. Our Antalya SEO agency service and our Google Maps setup guide explain the other parts of this structure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why might a new Google review not appear immediately?
Google checks reviews for policy compliance. In some cases this may take several days. A review’s absence alone cannot establish its precise cause.
What if the author sees the review but it is not visible on the business profile?
First compare the correct business and location, check date and public view. Seeing the review in the author’s own area does not prove that everyone sees the same content. Follow the official missing-review help process.
Can I remove a negative review?
Being negative alone is not grounds for removal. If you believe it violates Google policy, use the relevant reporting tool; Google decides the outcome.
What should I do if reviews disappeared after profile reinstatement?
Google says support can be contacted in this situation. Prepare the reinstatement date, relevant profile and any previous support record, then follow the official help channel.
May I offer a discount or gift for a review?
Google does not permit incentives for writing or changing a review or removing a negative one. The business should not direct the content or rating of genuine feedback.
Can an agency recover every missing review?
No. An agency can help with checks and support preparation, but cannot guarantee Google’s publishing or removal decisions.
